On October 24, 2025, the Australian Anti-Dumping Commission issued Notice No. 2025/111 announcing that, following an application submitted by Australian domestic company BlueScope Steel Limited, it has initiated anti-dumping and countervailing duty investigations into certain flat-rolled steel products imported from China, as well as an anti-dumping investigation into flat-rolled steel products from South Korea. The products in question are non-alloy or other alloy steels (excluding stainless steel, silicon steel, tool steel, and high-speed steel) in the form of flat-rolled products—uncoated, ungalvanized, or uncoated—non-coiled, with a thickness of 4.75 mm or greater and a width of 600 mm or more, whether or not featuring embossed patterns.
The Australian Customs codes for the products involved in this case are 7208.40.00.39, 7208.51.00.40, 7208.52.00.41, 7208.90.00.30, 7225.40.00.22, and 7225.40.00.24. The investigation period for this case spans from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025, while the injury investigation period covers July 1, 2021, to June 30, 2025. The Australian Anti-Dumping Commission is expected to complete the report on the essential facts of this investigation no later than February 11, 2026, and submit the final ruling report to the Australian Minister for Industry and Science no later than March 30, 2026.
The Australian Anti-Dumping Commission announced that it will extend the timeline for releasing the final findings of its anti-dumping investigation into hot-rolled deformed reinforcing bars originating from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Turkey. The final results, originally scheduled for release on November 19, 2025, will now be unveiled on December 18, 2025. The Australian Anti-Dumping Commission is the government agency responsible for handling anti-dumping and countervailing duty matters, and its decisions significantly influence Australia's steel import trade.
